Nigeria's Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi’s future bounced back
after an astounding performance yesterday during the London derby match between
Crystal Place and Chelsea which ended 3-0.
Chelsea's interim manager, Guus Hiddink, after the match, said in his
interview that he thinks John Mikel Obi played very well, and that the Nigerian
midfielder is the balance the team needs.
It can be recalled that before now, Mikel Obi’s career tottered under the
management of Jose Mourinho who reportedly never favoured the Nigerian, as his
overall participation in 2014/2015 matches was nine in all the club’s
competitions.
With Mourinho gone, Obi’s appearances have increased. Under the caretaker
manager, he was featured in Chelsea’s match with Sunderland where they won 3-1,
and he has played in three other matches with Watford, Manchester United and
yesterday’s match with Crystal Place.
And since yesterday, Mikel Obi has been trending, with Chelsea fans pouring
praises on the Nigerian. But what’s most touching is this clip which captures
Chelsea fans chanting Obi’s name during the match. See screenshots of some fan's tweets below:
