Kayleigh Haywood
A schoolgirl who was missing for five days before her body was discovered in undergrowth died from head and facial injuries, an inquest has heard.
Kayleigh Haywood, 15, was found on farmland in Ibstock, Leicestershire, last Wednesday, hundreds of yards from where she was last seen by her parents.
The hearing at Loughborough Coroner's Court was told that her body had to be identified by dental records.
Detective Inspector Simon Shuttleworth, the deputy senior investigating officer in the case, told Rutland and North Leicestershire Coroner's Court in Loughborough: 'The preliminary and provisional cause of death is head and facial injuries pending further tests.
'Formal identification was completed by a senior crime manager and it was by means of dental records comparison.'
The inquest was adjourned until February 24 by deputy coroner Carolyn Hull.
The hearing took place four days after Stephen Beadman, 28, appeared before magistrates in Leicester charged with murder and rape.
Beadman, from Ibstock, Leicestershire, was remanded in custody to appear before a Crown Court judge on December 18.
The 28-year-old's next door neighbour, Luke Harlow, 27, has been charged with grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a child.
The teenager, from Measham, was reported missing after being dropped off by her parents outside a school in Ibstock on November 13.
